This course explores in depth four profound meditation practices that lead to personal discovery of the limitless dimensions of our Being. They take us beyond the narrowness of our usual egocentric orientation, beyond the limits of conceptual mind, and lead to the direct experience of non-separation or oneness.
The four meditations are: Loving Kindness – unbiased affection for ourselves and others; Compassion – the strength to be present with suffering; Unselfish Joy – unfettered delight in the true happiness of both ourselves and others; and Equanimity – the natural peace inherent in the unconditional depths of our Being. When practiced intensively, these four take us beyond what we think we know about these qualities into the boundless experience of our intimate interconnectedness with everyone and everything. This brings a profound shift in our lives. We become more positive and inclusive, more patient and loving, more authentic and happy.
This course for Committed Meditators builds on existing skills in mindfulness and awareness. Practice will combine intention, formless meditation and contemplation. Readings will be assigned from Awakening Through Love: Unveiling your Deepest Goodness by John Makransky. Students are responsible for obtaining their own copies of the book. Classes will be recorded and made available on a weekly basis. Participants are encouraged to use the recorded meditations for daily practice and to re-listen to the classes.
Students who enroll in this course are strongly encouraged to register for the one-day retreat The Infinite Capacities of the Heart to be held Sunday November 17 from 9:30-5 PM.
You guys are serious and laid back at the same time which I really like. I feel that you have acquired real wisdom and experience in the areas that you teach, but I love how you really do “meet people where they are”.Past Course Participant
Walking the path under the guidance of Scott and Nancy has transformed my life. I now live it from a place of love, joy, compassion, and peace. When inevitable turmoil happens, it’s transient and I can move through it. I’m no longer whip-sawed around. Each day feels enveloped in gratitude and I feel held by a loving presence.N.
